Salgaocar FC, YC Colvale score resounding wins

PANAJI: Salgaocar Football Club scored a fluent 6-1 win over Verna SCA, in the Goa Football Assocation's U-14 League plyed at Betalbatim ground, on Monday.

PANAJI: Salgaocar Football Club scored a fluent 6-1 win over Verna SCA, in the Goa Football Assocation’s U-14 League plyed at Betalbatim ground, on Monday.
Both the teams started on an attacking note; however, it was Salgaocar FC who took the lead in 20th minute through Sidney Gauncar. Sidney Gauncar doubled the account for the Greens at the half-hour mark. Salgaocar FC led 2-0 at the break.
On resumption, Salgaocar FC continued from where they had left from. Sidney Gauncar completed his hat-trick in the 54th minute before Rui Noronha made it 4-0 for the Green Brigade. In the 57th minute, Akif Sayed scored for Verna SCA making it 1-4. Sidney Gauncar scored his fourth goal of the match at the hour mark making it 5-1 in favour of SFC. In the 67 minute Jordan Borges drilled the final nail in the coffin.
In another match at Assonora ground, Youth Club of Colvale scored a 5-2 win over Assonora ground.
The Colvale side opened the scoring through Aditiya Singh in the 6th minute and soon doubled the lead in the 13th minute as Joshua Noronha calmly placed the ball inside the net.
Post resumption, Om Narvekar took YSC Colvale’s the tally to 3-0 before Laxaman Rao Rane pulled a goal back for BAFF in the 49th minute, to keep his side in contest. However, Mervin D’Souza’s brace killed the game as he scored in the 62nd and 67th minutes respectively. Laxaman Rane scored a late consolation in the 70th minute as the scores read 5-2 at full-time in favour of YSC Colvale.
Elsewhere at Quitula ground, Kelbai Sports Club edged past Quitula Sports Club 4-3.
Quitula scored the first goal of the match in the 15th minute however Kelbai’s Ranjit Tele levelled terms in the 45th minute.
The resilient Quitula side managed to find another goal in the 55th minute through Anthony Fernandes. 
However Kelbai SC’s in-form striker Ranjit netted three times again while Samuel Pinto pulled a goal back the Quitula side as the match ended 4-3 in favour of Kelbai SC.
