MAPUSA: Salgaocar Football Club thumped Panjim Footballers 5-0 in the Goa Football Association’s U-20 TACA Goa League match played, at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Friday.
The match was mostly restricted to midfield play during the first half as the teams cancelled on each others’ chances at the goal thus the match remained goalless as the teams went into the breather.
Post resumption, Salgaocar FC came back stronger and tried their level best to convert the chances they missed at the goal and finally succeeded as Andrus John in the 49th minute danced past the rival defence and shot past the rival keeper to make it 1-0.
Struck by reverse, Panjim Footballers tried their best but couldn’t surpass the Green Brigade’s defence and missed a couple of chances.
Salgaocar FC continued their attack on the rivals and managed to shoot in yet another goal through Devendra Murgaonkar in the 82nd minute before Fhezer Gomes netted the third goal for the green outfits in the 85th minute.
Panjim Footballers failed time and again however, Salgaocar FC took advantage of the situation and shot yet another goal through a counter-attack in the 90th minute through Devendra Murgaonkar.
Ribhav Sardesai drove the final nail into Panjim Footballers’ coffin in added time to make it 5-0 at full-time.
Meanwhile in the Goa Football Association’s U-14 League, Sporting Clube de Goa thrashed Fr. Agnelo Youth Centre 12-0.
Wilson Baa (4′, 29′, 48′, 52′, 55′) netted four goal while Francisco Fernandes (13′, 21′, 23′) and Yuvraj Naik (38′, 50′, 58′) scored a hat-trick each for the young Flaming Oranje side. Aidan Fernandes scored another to take the tally to a dozen.
