RAIA: Sao Jose de Areal drubbed United Club of Nerul 5-1 to move into the quarter-finals of the 47th All-Goa Custodio Memorial football organised by Raia Sporting Club, at Raia Panchayat ground, on Saturday.
Vishal Fernandes opened the score-line for Areal in the 16th minute with a placement shot. Within seventeen minutes, Vishal Fernandes doubled the lead for Areal with a snapshot. As the progressed in the second half, Aslon Oliveira further inflated the lead for Areal. Minutes later, Daryl Costa made it 4-0.
Jeston Fernandes too recorded his name on the score sheet to make it 5-0 for Areal in the 58th minute.
United Club of Nerul managed to pull a goal back through Devendra Pednekar in the 60th minute.
Sao Jose de Areal will now meet the winners of Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda and Pax of Nagoa, Verna on July8.
