BICHOLIM: The Saraswat Vidyalaya High School, Mapusa defeated St Joseph Institute, Vasco 3-0 in State under-17 girl’s table-tennis tournament organized by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, at SAG hall, Campal, here, recently.
In the best of five set final, Saraswat won all the first three sets. In the first set Urmila Mense bt Shalaka Naik 11-6, 11-0, 11-2; Prutha Parrikar defeated Isha Bhandari 4-11, 11-8, 11-7 and 11-5 while in the third set Niharika Walawalkar thumped Vedangi Barve 11-6, 11-9, 12-14, 11-2.
The Saraswat Vidyalaya PE teachers, Jayendra Nagvekar and Vinod Bilgoji guided the team.
Headmaster, Sanjiv Dharwadkar congratulated the team for their achievement. They had earlier defeated GS Amonkar High School, Mapusa 3-1 at the taluka level and Sharda Mandir High School, Mira Mar 3-0 at the district level.
