RAIA: North Goa Senior Citizens defeated South Goa Senior Citizens 1-0 in the men’s football game played at the inaugural of the VIIIth All-Goa Senior Citizens Sports Festival organised by the Sports Authority of Goa in association with all Goa Senior Citizens Federation, at PJN Stadium Complex, Fatorda, on recently.
In the 60+ women 100 metres running category Ritinha Pereira stood first whereas Perpetua Jacques bagged the first place in the 65+ women category. In the men 60+ 200 metres running category Anthony Fernandes bagged the first place while Martin Pires stood first in 65+ category.
Earlier, the Minister for Town and Country Planning Vijay Sardessai inaugurated in the presence of other dignitaries.
More than 200 senior citizens took part in festival which consists of various events like athletics, football, badminton, chess, carom, tug-of-war, volleyball and swimming. The highlight of the event was that a 80 years old lady took part in this the shot put event.
