MARGAO: A fine knock of 68 by Robin D’souza helped Sieko Cricket Club of Fatorda to beat last year’s winners Oxford Marine Club by 26 runs to emerge as champions of the Sanguem T-20 cricket tournament organized by Sanguem Cricketers at Fatorda Practice ground on Sunday.
Bating first Sieko CC scored 129 in 17.5 overs. For Oxford Marine, Dinesh Naik and Basuraj Mandar shared two wickets each.
In reply Oxford Marine were bundled out for 103 runs in 16.5 overs. Mukhtiyar Kadri top scored with 23 runs while Vedant Naik was the most successful bowler scalping three wickets.
The winners Sieko CC were richer by a purse of Rs 30,000 and a trophy while Oxford Marine had to be content with Rs 20,000. Sanguem MLA Subhash Faldesai was Chief Guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of GCA Treasurer Vias Dessai, Jt Secretary Amrish Naik and President of Sanguem Cricketers Supraj Naik Tari.
Brief score: Sieko CC, 129 all out in 17.5 overs (Robin D’souza 68, Vedant Naik 14 runs. Dinesh Naik 2-15, Basuraj Madar 2-10) beat Oxford Marine CC, 103 all out in 16.5 overs (Mukhtiyar Kadri 23, Sarfaraz Nawaz 14 n.o. runs. Sherbahadur yadav 2-12, Vedant naik 3-14).
