RAIA: Sinquerim Sports Club entered the semi-finals of 33rd All-Goa St Anne’s Inter-Village Soccer in memory of Maria Anatansia Fernandes beating Ponda Footballers 2-1 at Animal Husbandry ground, Curti-Ponda, Tuesday. They led 1-0 at the break.
Sinquerim took the lead through Krish Naroji. In the second half they increased the lead through Mandar Narvekar, while Ponda reduced the margin through Manjunath Kambli.

In the 20th minute, Mandar gave a through pass to Krish Naroji who placed the ball into the net.
In the second half Ponda increased the tempo. Joffrey Cruz squared to Manjunath but his shot beat the goalkeeper but did not enter the goal as it got stuck in the water and a defender cleared it.
The Ponda goalkeeper unfairly charged an opponent and Mandar Narvekar converted the spot kick.
Ponda managed to reduce the margin through Manjunath Kambli. Ponda missed a chance to equalize when Manjunath’s shot beat the goalkeeper but it did not enter the goal due to waterlogging.
Sinquerim will take on Navelim Sporting in the semis on July 20. Sandeep Opkar was the chief guest and gave away the man-of-the match prize to Bhaskar Jalmi.
