Sirvodem Sports Club thumped Navelim Sporting Club 5-0 in GFA’s Third Division league at Sinquetim ground, Navelim on Friday. Sirvodem led 2-0 at half time.
Sirvodem started the game in right earnest with their forwards repeatedly raiding the rival citadel with snap shots. At the other end, Navelim were struggling to contain the rampaging Sirvodem forwards as their defence went in disarray.
Lazarus Fernandes put Sirvodem into the lead in the 27th minute. Osbert Rodrigues doubled the lead at the stroke of half time.
In the second session, Sirvodem continued with their onslaught and pumped in three more goals. Arif Shaikh and Osbert Rodrigues scored twice in the reminder period.
At St John Baptist ground, Benaulim, St Anthony’s Sporting Club came from behind to hold Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda to a 2-2 draw. Don Bosco were leading 2-0 at the breather.
Don Bosco enjoyed total domination in the opening session when Avelino Faleiro struck twice for Don Bosco.
St Anthony’s came back strongly in the second session, with umpteen forays. Ronnie Hilario reduced the margin soon after resumption off a pass from Rose Fernandes. Manford Fernandes restored parity late in the second half.
