MARGAO, SEPT 10
Goa Pradesh Congress General Secretary Vijay Sardessai has said his charity foundation “We for Fatorda” has completed the distribution of provisions to 2000 needy families in the constituency before Ganesh Chaturthi as part of his attempt to alleviate the plight of those affected by the price rise.
In a press release, Sardessai said his Foundation has attempted to “do its bid” to help the needy in Fatorda in keeping with the message of the Holy month of Sravana and also Ramzan, which teaches the faithful to reach out to the underprivileged in the society.
‘Unlike the BJP in Fatorda which only showed lip sympathy to the cause of those affected by price rise by holding an ‘indoor’ public meeting, I have delivered on my public promise”, he said.
Recalling Opposition Leader Manohar Parrikar’s taunt at the BJP meeting that Vijay Sardesai was already behaving like an MLA even before having been elected, Sardesai thanked Parrikar for the compliment, saying he was actually doing the work of the MLA of taking care of the needy voters of Fatorda when the MLA was busy holding a huge birthday bash supported by the contractors lobby which had released full page advertisements in local dailies.
In this circumstance Sardesai questioned how it would be inappropriate if one termed the Fatorda MLA as the Godfather of the Contractors Lobby?
Sardesai further said that when all progressive politicians have embarked on austerity during private celebrations, it was a surprise to see the MLA from ” the Party with a difference” behaving very differently.
