PANJIM: A total of six Goans will be part of the Indian women’s baseball team which will be participating in the LG Cup Women Baseball World Championship to be held from August 28 to 31, in Incheon, South Korea.
Well experienced coach of Indian team Dilip Sonu Naik along with guest invitee Anant Shambu Naik, vice-president of Goa Baseball Association are accompanying the team.
Goan International baseballer Sharol D’Mello, Sonali Malim, Goa senior team pitcher Nikita Gaude, former captain of Goa team and catcher Dipti Gaude are the four players selected in the Indian team.
The Indian baseball team has performed very well and finished in the fifth position at the last championships held in August 2014, in Incheon.
This time with experience, the Indian team is very strong and ambitious of winning a position in the championship.
The final coaching camp is in progress at New Delhi and the team will fly to South Korea on August 26. The Goa Baseball Association president Ramakant Angle and fans have wished them all the best.
