MARGAO: Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club prevailed over Wilred Leisure Sports Club 3-2 via the tie-breaker to storm into the finals of all-Goa Davorlim Soccer Cup inter-village football tournament, organized by Sporting Club of Davorlim, at panchayat ground, Davorlim, Friday.
There was no score at the end of regulation period.
Both the teams launched attacks on each other and kept the crowd on their toes, as a result there were few thrills at either end.
Post resumption, both the teams adopted an aggressive approach but defenders stood tall in keeping their citadel intact.
In the closing stages of the game, both went all out for an elusive match winner but the defenders were alert in frustrating the attacks.
In the penalty shoot out, Monty Valadares, Bersel Viegas, and Agio Antao were on target for Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club while Myron Fernandes and Neville Fernandes scored for Wilred Leisure Sports Club.
Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club will now face United Club of Utorda in the finals on December 29.
