MARGAO: Voice of Malbhat Association, Margao will organize their 1st all-Goa 3-a-side two-day floodlit football tournament in memory of Fr Antonio D’Silva on January 26 to 27 at Malbhat ground, here, from 6.30 p.m. onwards.
Participating teams should compulsory use tennis shoes.
Speaking at the press conference, Elvis Fernandes president of Malbhat Association said: “We are organizing the tournament in memory of Fr Antonio D’Silva on his birth centenary. Fr D’Silva was an ardent football fan who undertook various development projects in the area.”
He further stated that on the final day five state football stalwarts namely Francis Telles, Alisab Sadekar, Shridhar Nerualkar and Iancio Fernandes would be felicitated. The winners will get Rs 10,000 while the runners-up will take home Rs 8,000. Individual prizes will also be given.

Inter-village volleyball at Velim
MARGAO: The 1st South Goa inter-village volleyball tournament organized by Young Strikers of Tolleacanto,Velim will be held on January 25 at Tolleacanto court.

Trek to Dudhsagar
PANJIM: The one-day trek to Dudhsagar Waterfall organized by Goa Hiking Association will be held on January 27.
The bus will leave from Heera Petrol Pump, here at 7.45 a.m. and proceed via Cortalim Junction to Ponda.

State softball championship
PANJIM: The men’s and women’s state softball championship organized by Goa Softball Association in collaboration with Dnamaka Sports and Cultural Club and Samraat Club Chodan will be held on January 26 at Saude ground, Chodan from 9 a.m.

Handball trials at Fatorda
MARGAO: The trials to select the state handball team for men’s and women’s South Zone Championship from February 28 to March 2 at Madurai, Tamil Nadu will be organized by Goa Handball Association on February 4 at Nehru Stadium, Fatorda, at 3.30 p.m.

Sub-junior, junior handball championships
MARGAO: The state sub-junior handball championship organized by Goa Handball Association in association with Sports Authority of Goa will be held on February 2 at Nehru Stadium, Fatorda.
Those born on or after 1/1/1998 are eligible.
Meanwhile the state junior championship will be held on February 16 at Shivaji Maidan, Bicholim.

Raia face Fr Agnelo in inaugural
MARGAO: Raia Sporting Club will face Fr Agnelo Youth Sports Club in the inaugural match of all-Goa Vodafone inter-village football tournament organized by Colmorod Ratvaddo Sports Club (CRSC) from January 27 to February 17 at Rosary ground, Navelim.
Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club, St Anthony’s Sports Club Colva, Davorlim Sports Club, A A de Majorda, CRC Chinchinim, Verna Sports Club, Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda, Goa Velha Sports Club, Curtorim Gymkhana, Ambelim Sports Club, Cuncolim Union, Navelim Sports Club, Parish Youth Nuvem and hosts CRSC Navelim will also vie for the top honours.
All the participating teams will get a set of jerseys. Every round winner will receive Rs 2,000. The quarter-final winners will get Rs 4,000. The winners and runners-up will get cash prizes.
