PANJIM: St Joseph Vaz Ward defeated St Anthony Ward by 3-2 to clinch the 5-a-side interward tie breaker for the Desterro Unity Cup played at Busy Bee ground.
The tie breaker was held on the occasion of Independence Day cum Feast Day of Our Lady of Assumption by Desterro Parish Youth.
In the final, Troy Fernandes (St Joseph Vaz Ward netted a hat-trick while Niclau Fernandes (St Anthony Ward) netted a brace. The Best Shooter’s Prize was awarded to Troy Fernandes (St Joseph Vaz Ward) and the best goalkeeper prize was given to Niclau Fernandes (St Anthony Ward).
St Joseph Vaz were awarded a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 7,777. Troy Fernandes Veryl Fernandes and Miss Riya Fernandes scored for the winners, while the Runners Up-St Anthony Ward were given a trophy and cash prize of Rs 4,444. Nicolau Fernandes and Mary Fernandes scored for the runners up.
The guests present for the finals included Dr Savio Souza, Fr Roque Rodrigues, Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar and Fr Xavier N Braganza.
