MAPUSA: Over 48,000 students will take part in a mass display of surya namaskar in 63 centers simultaneously across Goa alongwith lakhs of students all over the country to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Swami Vivekananda organized by Steering Committee headed by Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar, Directorate of Education, DSYA and members of Swami Vivekananda Saardh Samaaroha Samiti (SVSSS) on February 18, at 10 a.m.
“Themed as ‘strength is life, weakness is death’, this programme is the first of its kind in the state which will allow us to provide a sense of patriotism to the students, who will come together from all walks of life. It is a yoga based exercise that is very beneficial for personality development,” said VM Prabhudesai, Director of DSYA at the press briefing at the Goa Secretariat, Porvorim, Wednesday.
“Students aged 13 to 18 years from standards VII, IX and XI will participate in the programme for which 12 taluka committees and 63 sub-committees have been set up. 45,656 students have already been registered and the number is expected to exceed 50,000 in the days to come,” informed Anand Shirodkar, SVSSS member.
