United Club of Utorda came from behind to crush Navelim Sporting Club 3-1 to enter the finals of 2nd Dalton Fernandes memorial inter-village football tournament organised by Sarzora Sports Club at Government School ground, Sarzora on Sunday. United Club of Utorda were trailing 0-1at half time.
Navelim enjoyed better ball possession in the opening session and made several forays into the Utorda territory. They went into the lead in the 15th minute when striker Jaison Pereira unleashed a stiff grounder which caught the rival goalkeeper napping off a Domnic Cabral pass.
Utorda tried their best and got more chances but inept shooting by their forwards prevented them from neutralising the lead.
The second half saw Utorda dominating with their midfielders and forwards putting up tremendous pressure. They did not have to wait for long to level the score as Allister Monteiro fired home off a pass from Russel Monteiro. From then on, it was all Utorda with Russel Monteiro slotting past the rival goalkeeper following a solo run.
Navelim struggled to contain the rampaging Utorda strikers with Russel driving the last nail into the Navelim coffin off a pass from Renedious Baretto.
