RAIA: United Boys Ambaulim secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Guardian Angel SC to book their place in the semi-finals of the Curtorim Panchayat Cup 2025, organised by Maina Sports Club and played at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim, on Wednesday.
In an exciting contest, both sides displayed attacking football from the opening whistle. Ambaulim drew first blood in the eighth minute when Soweil Fernandes found the back of the net to give his team a crucial lead. Guardian Angel’s Frazer Gomes came close to levelling the score but was denied as his shot struck the post and went out of play.
Ambaulim’s Alex Fernandes and Teron Fernandes also tested Guardian Angel goalkeeper Jackson Vaz, whose sharp saves kept his side in contention. After the break, Guardian Angel pressed hard in search of an equaliser, but Ambaulim’s solid defence held firm until the final whistle.
United Boys Ambaulim will now meet USC Seraulim in the semi-finals on November 3.
Guardian Angel SC’s goalkeeper Jackson Vaz was named man-of-the-match and received his award from Edwin Sequeira, member of Maina Sports Club.
