RAIA: Vasco Veterans clinched 4th Rosary Parish Cup 2024 defeating Calangute Veterans 3-0 in the final of Rosary Veterans 8-a-side Inter-Village Football Tournament played at the Laymati ground, Davorlim, on Thursday.
The final match started on fast pace in front of large holiday crowd and both teams showed urgency to score goals. Vasco Veterans strike three times through Jhon Fernandes, Uday Naik and Augustinho Rodrigues to lift the cup and were awarded Rs 40,000 plus trophy, while Calagute Veterans had to be content with Rs 30,000.
Former deputy chief minister and former Quepem MLA Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar was the chief guest and gave away prizes in the presence of guest of Honour social worker Davorlim-Dicarpali Vallabh Varak, Navelim Zilla Panchayat Member Edwin Cardozo (Cipru), social worker Siddharth Desai, Proprietor Uitracon Construction Manoj Dukle, Dr Manoj Prabhudesai, Parish Priest of Rosary Church Davorlim and Chairman Fr Domnic Noronha, Sr Mukti, Sr Maria, Sr Kavita, Caitan Costa, Niclau, Rosary Veterans President Anthony Colaco, Remete Colaco, Agnelo Gomes, Joaquim Colaco and PI Philomena Costa, who also compered, club officials and other dignitaries.
