Why will Gujarat Titans wear special ‘lavender’ jerseys in tonight’s GT vs SRH IPL 2026 match?

Special jerseys in the IPL have now become a strong tradition among franchises, with teams using the platform to promote social causes and spread awareness. While Royal Challengers Bengaluru continue their annual green jersey initiative for environmental awareness and Rajasthan Royals recently sported their all-pink “Pink Promise” kit to support women-led transformation programs, Gujarat Titans have once again stepped forward with a meaningful campaign of their own.

When Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans take on Sunrisers Hyderabad at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium on Tuesday night, the home side will be seen wearing a special lavender jersey to support the fight against cancer. The initiative has now become an annual tradition for the franchise and marks the fourth consecutive season in which GT have worn the lavender kit.

The franchise confirmed that the jersey is aimed at raising awareness about cancer and showing solidarity with fighters, survivors, and families affected by the disease. Lavender is globally recognised as a colour associated with cancer awareness campaigns, and GT have consistently used their IPL platform to amplify the message of early detection and access to quality healthcare.

In an official statement released before the match, the franchise highlighted that the campaign is about more than just cricket and encouraged fans to support the cause. Players were also seen promoting the initiative through social media campaigns and pre-match shoots ahead of the highly anticipated clash against SRH.

Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans head into the contest in excellent form. After losing their opening two games, Gill’s side bounced back strongly, winning seven of their last nine matches to climb to second place on the IPL 2026 points table with 14 points. Another win against Pat Cummins-led Hyderabad could further strengthen GT’s playoff hopes.
