MARGAO: Wilred Leisure Sports Club registered a 3-1 win over Navelim Sporting Club to sail into the quarter-finals of 40th All-Goa Chandor Seamen Trophy inter-village football tournament organized by Chandor Club at Chandor ground, Sunday. The winners led 2-0 at half time.
Wilred Leisure dominated the opening session and surged ahead through Milagres Fernandes soon after the kick-off. Spurred by the early success, Wilred intensified their forays and doubled their lead midway in the opening session through James Fernandes.
Navelim Sporting were a subdued lot and hardly tested the rival goalkeeper.
Crossing over, Wilfred Leisure continued to enjoy the lion’s share of exchanges. Tony Dias put the issue beyond doubt when he punted the ball to the far corner of the net.
Navelim Sporting managed to reduce the deficit when striker Alvito Colaco bulged the net.
