RUMBA-CURTORIM: Batora Sports Club downed St. Anthony Sports Club 2-0 to move into the quarter-finals of the Rumba United Curtorim inter-ward football tournament organised by Rumba United, at St Alex church ground, Curtorim, on Friday.
Batora built their pressure with upfront moves right from the start.
It was Batora’s Granville Barretto who scored the first goal of the match in the 20th minute and soon after Leslit Mascarenhas doubled the lead in the 23rd minute.
St Anthony SC tried their level best to come back in the game and equalise but Batora goalkeeper Christopher Alfonso was brilliant with acrobatic saves throughout the game to stop St Anthony’s attempts.
Batora will now meet the winner of Novowaddo and Cumborda in the quarter-finals on September 9.
