More horticulture outlets in pipeline

The government will open horticulture outlets in four talukas of Satteri, Canconaa, Tiswadi and Quepem talukas to purchase the local produce.
Replying to the points made by legislators, Agriculture Minister Vishwajeet Rane said the outlets in the four talukas would act as collection centres.
“These will act as collection centres which will be opened within a month,” he stated.
He said that the scheme would be started on experimental basis.
“We will speak to some five star hotels and divert some vegetable produce to them,” he said adding “we have started on experimental basis only, because we have to see how we can market it.”
He said that simply taking produce and paying farmers will not help.
On the statement made by Aldona legislator Dayanand Narvekar and Opposition Leader Manohar Parrikar that the Corporation was making profit at the cost of the people and farmers, he said “We do not want to earn” from it.
“Our job is to see that people get respite from the rising inflation,” he said.
Rane stated that the government was making it sure that the schemes and money given to the agriculture department were well utilized.
