PANJIM: The Budget 2023-24 will revolve around the State’s ambitious Swayampurna Goem initiatives with major thrust on education, health, sanitation and tribal welfare sector, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said on Wednesday.

Sawant was speaking to media persons after chairing the pre-budget orientation meeting on the State Budget 2023-24 with the Secretaries, Heads of the department and other official concern.
“The Budget will be realistic and futuristic. We have set targets to achieve revenue and expenditure. The budget will revolve around our theme of Sawayampurna Goem, wherein will ensure skill development of youth. We will ensure that through Budget we reach out to the last person of the society,” Sawant said.
He said that the emphasis will be given on revenue generation and at the same time, will see that the people are not burdened more with additional taxes. He said that provision for the upcoming G20 summit and National Games will be made in the budget.
The four-day Budget session of the Goa Legislative Assembly will commence from March 27.
Further, Sawnat said that the government has achieved 98 per cent of revenue receipts and also managed to implement 90 per cent of Budget 2022-23.
