MARGAO: Konkani Bhasha Mandal (KBM) has condemned the attempts by right wing fanatic organisations to strangulate the freedom of expression of thinkers and writers in Goa.
The condemnation by KBM comes in the wake of the revelations by the alleged killers of Gauri Lankesh, during police interrogation wherein they have named eminent Goan writer and thinker Damodar Mauzo as one of their targets.
An activist to the core, the Sahitya Akademi award winning writer was also the past president of Konkani Bhasha Mandal. The writer has been a vociferous critic of the Sanatan Saunstha whose headquarters lie in Goa. Mauzo believes that this might have been the trigger for the threat.
Asserting that it firmly stands in solidarity with Mauzo, the Mandal has warned the right wing forces not to interfere with the freedom of expression of writers and thinkers. “The Mandal will not tolerate such actions at any level,” KBM said.
