AMBELIM: Two strikes in the span of two minutes were enough for Curtorim Gymkhana as they beat Goa Police 2-0 in the Geno-Goa Football Association 1st Division League match played at Ambelim ground, on Thursday.
Curtorim Gymkhana are now on six points from four matches registering two wins and two losses while Goa Police are on three points from four matches. This is their first loss of the season.
After back to back defeats, Curtorim Gymkhana had a win in their previous encounter against Goa Velha SC which gave them confidence in the competition and the team started the match on attacking front.
Goa Police at the other end were just settling in the game and were handed an early eighth minute blow when Aliston Fernandes scored after dribbling from the centre catching the rival defence off guard and scored with a clean finish.
The lad then doubled the lead in the very next minute to complete his brace. The first half score remained 2-0. In the second session, Goa Police tried their best to get in the game but they couldn’t get past rival defence.
Curtorim’s Xavier Da Silva and Goa Police’s Tushar Dessai were cautioned by the referee. Curtorim Gymkhana’s Aliston Fernandes was named the man-of-the-match for his brace.
