Deputy Inspector General of Police Ravindra Yadav has asked the Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) to examine cases of all police officials suspended for their nexus with those in the illegal narcotic drugs trade.
The DIG’s instructions come in the wake of bad publicity the Goa police has been receiving after the startling revelations by a wanted drug pin about the nefarious existence of police-drug cartel nexus.
Sources said the examination may lead to the dismissal of anyone found having any kind of link with drug peddlers or big timers in the industry. More so, the axe may fall on suspended cop Sanjay Parab, who is evading arrest.
Five policemen, including PI Ashish Shirodkar, were arrested for their alleged links with drug traders. Parab against whom a non-bailable warrant is issued is the sixth man wanted in the case.
