PANJIM, MARCH 12: The district administration and the police are all geared up for the Corporation of City of Panjim (CCP) poll duty on Sunday.
Officials said that around 450 designated polling staffers and 500-odd security personnel including policemen from different police stations in North Goa, Indian Reserve Battalion and Goa Reserve Police have been deployed for poll duty.
Polling will take place in all 30 wards at 68 booths wherein a total of 32,090 voters will exercise their franchise. Election would be conducted on Electronic Voting Machines and 30 EVMs are kept as reserves in case of any emergency.
To ensure free and fair polling, Goa Police has made elaborate security arrangements starting from Saturday evening till the counting day on March 14.
North Goa Superintendent of Police Arvind Gawas told Herald that seven mobile jeeps with mobile officers, two supervisory officers, five police motorcycle teams and three Police Control Room vans would be patrolling throughout the Election Day on March 13.
Similarly, six pickets have been stationed at six different places even as senior officers are personally patrolling the polling place. All polling booths will be under strict security vigil and specific officers will monitor the situation there.
Whereas on the counting day, a separate batch of 160 police personnel will be placed on duty.
