President of SGTCOA Francis D’Silva has written to Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar highlighting the positive aspects of electric vehicles. D’Silva has expressed concern that if the increase in emissions of vehicles continues it is bound to give rise to major health issues and permanent damage to climate.
While highlighting the policy decision of states towards electric vehicles D’Silva said that BJP-run states in North India have reduced VAT on electric vehicles to 0 per cent which has reduced the cost of the on road prices of these vehicles. This reduced cost has enabled several commuters to buy electric vehicles and reduce the pollution footprint of the State.
President of SGTCOA has also expressed fear that if the vehicular population of Goa keeps on increasing at the present rate, we will be one of the most polluted states like Delhi very soon.
The SGTCOA has addressed the letter to Transport Minister Goa and the Prime Minister too expecting desired action on the pollution in Goa.
