PANJIM: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Wednesday questioned the government on their plans for creating employment for the youth of Goa claiming the government hasn’t worked on plans of “creating a golden Goa for the youth”.
NCP spokesperson Trajano D’Mello told reporters that recent advertisements for the post of security guards under the Goa Human Resources Corporation instead of creating opportunities had deprived the youth of better opportunities.
“Currently these youth are working for the same jobs for a monthly salary of Rs 11,000. The recent advertisements however say the pay scale starts from Rs 6,000 and would only be given jobs after completing training and would be hired only on contract basis.”
Why would they leave higher paying jobs for government ones and that too when they aren’t permanent?” asked D’Mello.
He also pointed out to the fact that other advertisements inviting application for government posts were released by Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC) on March 13 this year, when there was an election code of conduct in the State due to the Zilla Panchayat elections.
“Such an announcement is illegal and is an arbitrary decision. We strongly condemn this action and have written to the GPSC to scrap these posts and (advertise afresh). We have also alerted the election commission, chief secretary, chief minister and leaders of the opposition on this violation of code of conduct,” he said.
Also speaking on the Tenancy Act, the party has called upon the recently-formed Bahujan Samaj Sangh to push for withdrawal of the amendment in the next assembly session.
