19 VPs in Ponda taluka directed to discuss vector-borne diseases at their gram sabhas

PONDA: An awareness meeting to address vector-borne diseases was held in Ponda Deputy Collector’s office.

The meeting chaired by Deputy Collector Shubam Naik, directed 19 panchayats of Ponda taluka to discuss vector-borne diseases at their respective gram sabhas.

Officials from the Panchayat, Health, PWD, and Agriculture departments were tasked with promoting cleanliness and raising public awareness.

GOACAN Convenor Roland Martins highlighted the need to reactivate committees formed for vector-borne disease prevention and involve various departments.

Roland Martins said, “There were committees formed in the past for vector-borne diseases and today’s review meeting was held after a long gap.”

The meeting emphasised creating awareness, maintaining cleanliness, clearing stagnant water, and participating in panchayat committees.

Data collection on labourers, residential societies, and sanitation measures was also discussed.

Officials from health and other departments were present.
