MARGAO: Curtorim Gymkhana sent St Rock Youth Club, Majorda crashing out of the tournament with a 4-2 scoreline at the 30th Young Strikers Trophy All-Goa football tournament organized by Young Strikers Benaulim at St John the Baptist ground, Dando-Benaulim, on Tuesday. At half time, Curtorim Gymkhana were leading by 2-0 goals.
The winners started brightly and took the lead in the 20th minute by a strike from Stefin Fernandes, who executed a cross by Welson Fernandes.
Majorda tried hard to equalize but two minutes later, a spirited move by Clinton Fernandes was foiled by the Curtorim Gymkhana defence.
Finally, in the 26th minute, Curtorim Gymkhana scored their second goal through Agnelo Martins’ deft placement with an assist from Stefin.
Crossing over, Majorda made it 2-1 in the 40th minute through Clinton Fernandes’ powerful grounder that gave no chance to the rival custodian.
However, Curtorim Gymkhana secured their third goal through Stefin.
In the 50th minute, Majorda scored through a solo effort from Welington Fernandes but in the dying minutes Curtorim Gymkhana sealed victory with a goal from Lieto Fernandes.
