The various notifications with regard to the proposed project seems like a thief is ransacking the villages in middle of night without making any noise.
It is now a do or die battle for people of Canacona with regard to the proposed marina off its coastal belt starting from Loilem to Agonda. Canconkars should remember that the local politicians would be least bothered regarding their miseries due to the marina, as most them are interested in only rotating the chairs among themselves in their tenure. The crafty politicians would also try to blackmail as well as fool the villagers not to oppose the project since they know that they would be deprived of huge kickbacks incase this project is stopped by the people. It is also utter nonsense and lies from Canacona politicians to say that they are not aware of this project when everything starts with their full knowledge as well of the panchayat and municipality.
This is not a good example of democracy but a clear dictatorship. On one hand the present Government is delaying the implementation of the Gadgil committee and Kasturirangan panel’s recommendation on account of scarcity of land in Goa (but in reality for sake of miners) and on the other hand they are proposing to evict people from large tracts of Canacona coastal belt. This is nothing but clear hypocritical attitude of present and past governments. The present BJP government would also try to play the blame game as the corrupt Congress government was the one who first proposed at least three marinas across Goa.
Goans don’t need marinas to promote its tourism industry as nature is its beauty. Marinas are requested by politicians to increase their banks accounts. As such people of Canacona should be aware about the deceptions of their representatives. The crafty government and local politicians would also try to divide people of Canacona saying that the marina would create employment but are people of Canacona ready to sacrifice their land and coast to serve Marina’s owners like slaves? How many Goans are working in its only star Hotel at Raj-Bag Tarir and what posts are they are holding?
Most of the people of this coastal belt are in their own business and support their families with both tourism and fishing business. Indeed they are masters of themselves with no one to dictate to them. The government should back off with the evil proposal of removing the roots of the soil.
Hope for people of Canacona aache din aane wale hai.
