PANJIM: The entire capital city is expected to experience power outages on March 10 and 11 as Electricity Department plans to shift lines feeding power supply to the city.
During the process of shifting lines, which is being done to facilitate the smooth construction of the bridge across Ourem Creek, Panjim might experience some power interruptions for short durations.
The notice from the Electricity Department states, “The Electricity Department will be shifting the overhead 33KV D/C line across the Ourem Creek on March 10 and 11 i.e on Saturday and Sunday. Since these lines are feeding the power supply to main Panjim city, the entire city may experience some power interruptions for short durations in the morning and evenings so as to facilitate shifting of loads through ring system feeding.”
Speaking to Herald, Electricity Department Assistant Engineer Arun Patil said, “We are shifting main cables to facilitate Patto bridge construction one cable at a time will be put off. Power supply will be changed over to other cable. At this point power interruptions would take place.”
He said, “Consumers at large in Panjim are requested to take note of the same and bear with the department.”
