Raising the issue at a gram sabha on Sunday, the residents said they were shocked to see news report in certain dailies on a written statement made in the assembly session by the deputy chief minister on his plan to set up IT ESDM (electronic system design and manufacturing) companies and would acquire about 140 acres of land for the purpose in the village.
In a strongly worded resolution, the villagers have objected to additional acquisition of land and unitedly condemned the act of the government in failing to take villagers into confidence in the matter.
They claimed that they had already parted with 2.5 lakh sq mtrs of land for the Tuem Industrial Estate, while an additional 5 lakh sq mtrs was acquired in May 2012 by the BJP government.
The residents stated that the present land being surveyed was beyond the Industrial Zone provision in the Regional Plan 2021. They feared that if the present land was acquired, then half of the village would come under industrial cover, leaving hardly any land for villagers and future generations.
The residents passed another resolution asking the panchayat not to process any NOC for plots commercially developed in the ward presently represented by Sarpanch Ulhas Naik.
It is learnt that real estate companies have developed a large number of housing plots and have even made roads without obtaining any permission.
The villagers have questioned the viability of commercial housing complexes at a time when the village is facing acute water shortage and frequent power failures. The sarpanch pleaded ignorance on the development being undertaken in his ward.
