MARGAO: Desserts N’More Avengers and Mangirish Veterans tasted victory in their respective matches at the 2nd Goa Veteran Cricket League T20 tournament played, at the MCC ground.
Mangirish Veterans put up a robust display as they chased a challenging total of 154/6 posted by Vasco Mariners, in 19.5 overs with 2 wickets in hand.
In the other match, Desserts N’More Avengers did not encounter much trouble as they chased Royal Ruby’s modest total of 127/9 reaching 129/5 in 18.4 overs.
In a strong batting performance, Raghuveer Lotlikar (65) and Chandrakant Ghadi (50) were the major contributors for Vasco Mariners as they opted to bat first. Balkrishna Hodarkar (2/35) was the pick of the bowlers for Mangirish Veterans, who replied with a fitting chase. Damodar Redkar graced a half century scoring 53 runs at the top of the order while Razashad Shaikh (45 off 25 balls) played a crucial hand towards the finishing end as Mangirish Veterans reached 158/8 with a ball to spare.
The man-of-the match was awarded to Razashad Shaikh, who received the prize from Rizwan Khan.
Later, Desserts N’More Avengers restricted Royal Ruby to a modest total as Sagar Gosavi sent down an impactful spell claiming 4/18 off his 4 overs. Sanjay Dabolkar (33) and SB Yadav (29) were the top two scores for Royal Ruby, while Micky Colaco (37) and Naresh Parsekar (20 not out) did a good job with the bat for Desserts N’More Avengers. Shailesh (2/21) was the key bowler for Royal Ruby.
Sagar Gosavi was named the man-of-the-match and received the award from Govind Gaokar.
