VASCO: Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman visited Goa Naval Area on Sunday. This was her first visit to Goa Naval Area after becoming defence minister. She was accompanied by Admiral Sunil Lanba, the chief of Naval Staff and Mrs Reena Lanba.
The defence minister was received by Vice Admiral Girish Luthra and Rear Admiral Puneet K Bahl.
A 50-men Naval Guard along with ceremonial band was paraded for the new defence minister at Naval Base Hansa. She along with staff members was briefed on naval aviation followed by a demonstration of the MiG 29K fighter aircraft operations. In the afternoon she visited INS Mandovi at Verem to flag off INSV Tarini.
