Vasco police said that they received the medical examination report of the girl from GMC doctors on Tuesday and the same is positive.
Police said that the accused continues to insist that he is innocent despite the medical report confirming rape.
On June 20, the grandmother of the child had lodged complaint that her granddaughter was allegedly raped by Fernandes on two occasions, besides molesting her on many occasions from December 2014 to June 2015.
The police then registered the case under various sections, including 376 (rape), of IPC, Section 8(ii) of Goa Children’s Act, and Sections 4, 8 and 12 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
The police then registered the case under sections 354, 354-A, 354-B, 376 of IPC, Section 8(ii) of Goa Children’s Act, and Section 4, 8 and 12 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
Meanwhile the police have recorded statements of family members and others in the case.
