ANC nabs Portuguese national with drugs worth Rs 22.4 lakh

PANJIM: A day before the New Year celebrations, the Anti Narcotics Cell of the Goa Police has seized drugs worth Rs 22.4 lakh in a narcotics raid at Margao, near railway station and arrested a Portuguese national.
As per the ANC release, on the night of 29.12.2019, a team of Anti Narcotic Cell Police Station of Goa Police conducted a narcotics raid at Margao near the railway station and apprehended a 42-year-old Portuguese national Antonio Manual Faria Ramos.
The ANC says the accused was in illegal possession of around 101 grams of suspected MDMA, 110 gms of cocaine and 240 gms of charas all worth over Rs 22.40 lakh in the international market. 
The seized contraband was found concealed in his bag and meant for illegal sale during the upcoming New Year period. 
Accordingly, FIR No 27/2019 under the relevant sections of NDPS Act meant for the quantity of MDMA, cocaine and charas has been registered at Anti Narcotics Cell Police Station on 30/12/2019 against the accused. 
Further investigation in the case is carried out by PSI Rohan Madgaonkar of ANC PS. 
Upon interrogation of the accused, it has been revealed that he has come down to Goa from Pushkar with intention to carry out illegal narcotics business in the ongoing tourist and New Year season. 
He stated that he keeps moving around in India at tourist places to carry out sale and trafficking of narcotics. 
This was his third visit to Goa. 
The raid was conducted under supervision of SP Shobhit Saksena, IPS – DySP ANC Mahesh Gaonkar, Police Inspectors Sudesh Velip and Shitakant Nayak, PSI Rohan Madgaonkar, PSI Pritesh Madgaonkar, PSI Arun Dessai, ASI Satyawan Naik, Mandar Naik, Nitesh Mulgaonkar, Sushant Pagui, Laxman Mhamal, Rupesh Kandolkar, Amol Naik, Dhirendra Sawant, Paresh Gaonkar, Sadashiv Parab, Mayur Gawade, Devanand Parab, Nhanu Harmalkar, IRB Prasad Teli, PC Driver Anant Raut and PC driver Kundan Patekar.
