DULER: Santa Cruz Club Cavelossim scored a huge 4-0 win over rivals Vasco Sports Club in their GFA’s Professional League encounter played at Duler Stadium, on Thursday.
At half-time SCC Cavelossim led by a 2-0 margin with Joshua Vaz and Daulat Dessai scoring for their team.
SCC Cavelossim struck first in the 8th minute of play when Joshua Vaz unleashed a blistering right footer from the edge of the box which had no answer from the Vasco SC keeper Shilton Fernandes, 1-0.
Joshua once again got into the attacking mode in the 15th minute when on getting hold of the ball from Daulat he set up Nasar Abdul Kader, however the latter’s firm header was neatly kept at bay by keeper Shilton.
In the 21st minute of play Vasco SC’s Faizal Bepari set up overlapping Jaison Vaz whose shot travelled just past the Cavelossim goal.
Thereon Joshua was unlucky not to score on two occasions; first in the 34th minute he latched onto the ball almost at the centre line and charged into the Vasco SC citadel only to see his fierce strike being collected by Shilton.
Couple of minutes later Joshua’s shot from the top of the box hit SCC Cavelossim woodwork and went out of play.
During the injury time of the first session, SCC Cavelossim managed to double their lead when Daulat Dessai got the better of his marker Hayson Velho and fired in a shot past the helpless keeper to make it 2-0.
Crossing over, Joshua continued his onslaught on the Portsmen when in the 55th minute but his powerful effort was cleanly collected by Shilton.
Vasco SC managed to take a step forward and attack their rivals, however Elson Rodrigues saw his low grounder being collected by diving SCC Cavelossim keeper Agnelo Gomes and then Jaison Vaz having only the keeper to beat shot wide from handshaking distance.
In the 70th minute Princeton Rebello curled his corner towards Rovan Pereira whose header hit SCC Cavelossim goal post to the dismay of the Vasco fans.
Towards the fag end of the match Cavelossim managed to score twice, where first Mathew Colaco fired in a fierce grounder to the far corner of the Vasco nets and in the next minute Mathew sent a cross towards Joshua who finished off in style to bring the tally to 4-0.
