RAIA: Cumborda Sports Club clinched the St Alex Parish Youth 7-a-side inter-ward football tournament title by defeating Agxem Sports Club, via the tie-breaker, organised by St Alex Parish Youth in Curtorim, on the occasion of their Patron Feast, St Alex.
Within three minutes, Macson Fernandes from Cumborda Sports Club scored the first goal. In the last minute, Alroy Gomes from Agxem scored the equaliser, ending the game in a 1-1 draw. In the penalty shootout, Cumborda players proved to be better shooters.The finals were anticipated by a friendly girls’ exhibition football match between Our Lady of Carmel School, Curtorim, and St Joseph’s Educational Institute, Chandor. St Joseph’s emerged victorious with a score of 5-1. All players were given tokens of appreciation and trophies. Acira Fernandes was named player of the match, and Meara Mascarenhas was recognised as the promising player of the match.
