TALEIGAO: Cuncolim Educational Society’s College of Arts & Commerce, Cuncolim, emerged champions of the Goa University Inter-Collegiate Women’s Kabaddi Championship 2025-26, defeating Sant Sohirobanath Ambiye Government College of Arts & Commerce, Pernem, 49-43 in the final, at the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium.
In the semi-finals, Pernem overcame GVM’s Gopal Govind Poy Raiturcar College, Ponda, 63-48, while Cuncolim trounced Shree Mallikarjun and Shri Chetan Manju Desai College, Canacona, 42-12.
Savita Raikar of Cuncolim was adjudged best player. Eighteen women’s teams took part in the championship.
The Cuncolim squad comprised Prathana Velip, Harshika Velip, Ramila Chari, Vandhan B Murmu, Divya Deu Velip, Simron Gaonkar, Gaurisha Kakodkar, Savita Raikar, Saesha P Velip, Aadiksha B Woilkar, Priti Kumari and Aashi Singh.
The Pernem line-up included Sakshi Kaskar, Neha Mavlankar, Gayatri Raut, Suhani Gawade, Priya Gawade, Prachi Mahale, Diya Jadhav, Akshata Rane, Bhagyashri Wadar, Aachal Gad, Arpita Malekar, Karishma Singh, Sweta Shet, Sujal Naik and Priyanka Gawade.
Prof Brahma Edwin Barretto, Principal of Cuncolim College, and Goa University Assistant Sports Officer Avidh Morajkar presented trophies and medals to the winners and runners-up.
