VASCO: Taking serious note on the slow pace of work on the new ultra modern transport hub cum Mormugao Taluka Administrative building at KTC bus stand costing about 96 crores, the Goa State Industrial Development Corporation (GSIDC) officials have decided to issue show cause notice to the project contractor.
The decision was taken in the review meeting held to check the progress of project work chaired by Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida and attended by GSIDC officials including Jude Carvalho, besides the representatives of project contractor on Thursday morning.
According to reports, the foundation stone for ultra modern bus terminal cum taluka administrative building at KTC bus terminal in Vasco was laid on April 30, 2016 and it was assured by the contractor that the actual work on the project would start on the very next day.
However, Almeida said, till date, the contractor has mobilised only some machineries at the site and failed to take up the work which has been accorded high priority by the State administration.
Thus, taking note of the same, a review meeting was called in which the officials present sought clarification from the contractor as to why he failed to start the work till date.
However, as the representatives of project contractor failed to give any satisfactory reply, as such, Vasco MLA Almeida directed GSID officials to issue show-cause notice to the contractor.
“It is serious as the project needs to be completed within the stipulated time given to the contractor. We noticed that the contractor has dumped the materials, but has not started full-fledged work. By now, he should have taken up the piling work which can be easily taken up during rains. However, the contractor failed to do the same,” the MLA said.
Further, he said, “We have set a time frame for the work and thus after Ganesh Chaturthi, we would call for a high level joint meeting which would be chaired by Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar to ensure that this project gets completed soon.”
