PANJIM: A homeless 73-year-old man was rescued on Wednesday from Porvorim by Street Providence NGO with the assistance from the local police.
According to Donald Fernandes of Street Providence, the homeless person is well educated and hails from Punjab and was abandoned by his family being and alcoholic. He was staying in the shelter home run by Street Providence in 2019, however he left the shelter home during COVID pandemic and in 2021 was found again on the streets.

“We reached out to him thrice requesting him to return back to the shelter home, he, however refused and continued to live on the streets of Porvorim. Even local people tried convincing him, we finally rescued him along with police and he is presently in our shelter home,” Fernandes.
He further said that the 73-year-old is being given required care and attention at the shelter home.
