A two-month-old love marriage story ended in tragedy when a 29-year-old woman from Porvorim allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the sea behind Goa Shipyard Limited, Vasco, on Thursday night.
Vibha Gautam Parulekar, who had recently tied the knot with her longtime friend, Gautam, had gone to her parents’ house at New Vaddem, Vasco, about four days ago. She allegedly committed suicide on Thursday night.
Vasco Police early Friday morning retrieved the body, which was washed off the shore behind GSL.
According to Vasco Police, Vibha had gone to her parent’s residence due to some dispute among the newly wedded couple.
Vibha’s family members informed that she left the house on Thursday evening. Since she failed to return by 10 pm, family members had lodged a missing complaint with Vasco police station.
The deceased’s father informed that his daughter and son-in-law were working together at Verna Industrial Estate, but when the deceased went to her residence recently, the family members noticed that something was wrong among the newly wedded couple.
Vasco Police have registered an offence and handed the case to Sub Divisional Magistrate Levinson Martins for further investigation since the deceased was newly married.
