PANJIM: Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) has issued a demolition notice to Sudesh Naik Vengurlekar for illegally constructing a house in CRZ area in Ribandar next to the Divar ferry point without prior permission from the authorities.
The case dates back to August 17, 2015 wherein a complaint was filed by Kashinath Shetye alleging the illegality and subsequently after nearly three years the CCP officials conducted a site inspection on March 12, 2018.
During the inspection it was noticed that the existing structure had been extended and encroached area towards the Mandovi River side as well as in the front on the road side. CCP officials also noticed that an additional floor with a staircase was constructed, all without the permission of the authorities and the CCP. Corporation had later issued show cause notice in May 2018.
However, Vengurlekar submitted that the house is an old ancestral home and existing for more than 75 years. He later also submitted a plan acknowledged by the NGPDA dated July 27, 2018.
Taking cognizance of the fact that the plan had been submitted to the NGPDA after constructing and extending the existing structure for regularisation of the changes incorporated, CCP has concluded that the construction is illegal.
