Doyl, product of Manovikas English School played football at a early age of seven.He played for the school team and gave full credit to Mr. Socorro Vaz , who encouraged him to play football.
On completion of his 12th Science at Fr.Agnel Verna Doyl he armed himself with further sports qualification pursuing BA,Hons in Sports Management at Newcastle College UK, and looks to study Masters in Sport.
“During my 3 year sports management degree in Sports management and participation I learned a lot on the management side of sport like sports participation, sports development, sports marketing and sports law. I have worked voluntary hours and gained work experience by having work placements for the local council organizing sports development programmes for kids and concentrating more on grassroots sports developments. I also have acquired my FA level 1 football coaching badge,” informed Doyl.
Going back in time the young footballer had very found memories of his footbaling days in Goa.
“In the year 2005, I got the opportunity to represent Goa at the U-16 national level championships in Jabalpur, MP. From there on I was able to play in other positions and that included playing as a striker, right or left of midfield which I quite enjoyed as well. At Higher Secondary level I played for Fr Agnel Ashrams in the all Goa Higher Secondary football games. I also represented Smt Parvatibai Chowgule college at the all Goa University League in the year 2007 in which we won the league,” informed Doyl .
“In the year 2007 I got admissions at Newcastle College, UK. I played at University level for the University’s football development team which is U-19 level and later progressing to the senior squad and winning the league in the year 2009. During that time I trained under FA level coaches and also coaches who have played for the Manchester United Football Academy at youth levels. Outside university I played in the Tyne and wear (Newcastle) county U-19 youth league for a local club side Fawdon park Fc.
The promising young Goan star was eager to play for the FC Goa.”If given a oportunity I will surely like to play in the ISL with our Goan outfit FC Goa,” said a beaming Doyl.
While Doyl was schooling he played for big clubs at their youth level in the U-12 to U-19 squad. He played for Salcette Sports Club, Fransa SC, Churchill SC, Orlim SC, Rossmancruz SC and Margao SC. He also captained his school football for some major tournaments.
Commenting on the players who inspired him to set his own goal, made Doyl look up in pure admiration at Goan boys Romeo Fernandes and Mandar Rao Desai.
“I was strongly inspired to play football watching the Indian football stars at the time like Baichung Bhutia, Shanmugan Venkatesh, I M Vijayan and Mahesh Gowli. Yes I would also like to make a special mention of the Brazilian striker Baretto in early 2000’s when the I-league was played under national league,” informed Doyl.
On the international circuit Doyl admired Stevan Gerard of Liverpool and Zina Dane.
Currently Doyl is being coached by Cameroen born coach,Gerard Guy Ambass,who played for Ranger in Hong Kong and Happy Valley Hong Kong.
“In the year 2012, I moved to London for better opportunities. I started playing University level football initially. I played in the Cambridgeshire regional county league which is a semi-professional level in the UK.In the year 2014 my highlight was that I attend football selection trials organised at Warwick University by Soccer Showcase limited. It was carried out by UEFA licensed coaches who have gained experience in coaching teams in the English premier league and in lower divisions of English football. At the end of the programme I got a very positive feedback from the coaches and also played in games that were attended by scouts from many clubs such as Tottenham hotspur and Swansea city,” said Doyl.
The rising star thanked his parents who have also been supportive and extended all the help they could inorder that he could make it big in football.
