MARGAO: The Goa Saras organised by the District Rural Development Agency was inaugurated by Tribal Welfare, Sports and Agriculture Minister Ramesh Tawadkar.
Goa Saras is organised every year to promote self help group members/artisans to display their talents and earn their livelihood.
This year Saras fair is be held from November 3 and will conclude on November 14. Artists from all over India are participating in the fair.
On the occasion, Tawadkar said, “The agriculturists from the rural areas have to get empowered and for the last four years we have done lots of work towards achieving this goal. RDA has taken a great step to empower and motivate the artists and Self Help Groups from rural areas.”
“When Saras comes, we feel that we have created a mini-India in Goa as artists and exhibitors from all over India come here. This also is a showcase of our unity,” said RDA minister Alina Saldanha.
“Saras is a step towards empowering the individuals and Self Help Groups to enterprise and become independent entrepreneurs in the future. We have noticed that several are motivated and empowered by Saras,” said P S Shetye in-charge of RDA North.
