PANJIM: The Congress party on Sunday claimed that Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar’s statement on ‘Happiness Index’ is nothing but “a move to mask government’s failures.”
“Before even speaking on increasing Happiness Index let Parrikar define what is Happiness Index and what is the unit and methodology to measure it,” Congress Goa Spokesman Sunil Kawathankar said.
“We know that Parrikar is an IITian but he cannot always use terminology which will mask their government’s failures,” he added.
Parrikar addressing party workers at the Vijay Sankalp Rally in Bicholim on Saturday evening had said that if BJP is voted back to power in Goa, it will work towards increasing Happiness Index of the State.
The former Goa chief minister had said “money (alone) does not give you satisfaction. Happiness index is now being discussed worldwide.”
“To do this (to increase happiness index) I require your support. Last time (during 2012 Goa polls) 21 BJP legislators were elected and this time we want at least 25-26 BJP legislators,” Parrikar had said.
