NAVELIM: Carmel SC defeated Sirvodem SC 3-2 in the GFA 3rd Division League match played at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Thursday.
Both the teams put up an exquisite show from the start of the match trying to get past the rival citadel.
Lizbon Gomes of Sirvodem SC missed a chance to score in the 4th minute after Covan Lawrence sent him a well cross from the flanks. Soon Carmel SC went in for a counter-attack in the 8th minute however Covan Lawrence’ right footed attempt was blocked by the rival defender.
Joe Dias took control of the ball sent to him by Laxman Thapa of Carmel SC in the 24th minute managed to get the ball past the rival goalkeeper to give his team the lead.
Carmel SC went on to double the lead in the 35th minute through Antonio Da Silva.
Post resumption, Antonio Da Silva once again sent in a powerful strike to complete his brace and a 2-0 for Carmel SC.
With a 3-0 lead Carmel SC fell back and didn’t put much pressure on the rivals, teaking advantage of the situation Sirvodem SC went full in to try and find the goal they desired. Joe Luis finally scored for Sirvodem SCin the 62nd minute making it 1-2 and Aniket Chari soon made it 2-3 for Sirvodem SC.
Sirvodem SC tried hard and troubled the rival defence with constant attacks but failed to find the nets as Carmel SC parked the bus to keep the rivals at bay.
