Mopa toll issue will be decided by Union Transport Ministry: Mauvin

Transport Minister renews his appeal for own tourist taxi app by the association

PORVORIM: Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho has said the Mopa toll was imposed as per directions of the Minister for Surface Transport. Already a representation has been made to the Union Transport Minister. It is a central law and will have to be adopted uniformly. He was responding to media queries regarding tourist taxi operators threat to drop passengers at the Link Road, rather than pay tax.
Regarding the vexed taxi issue, Mauvin said he is not afraid of threats. “My stand is clear for Goa and Goans we need the app based taxi, we need to adopt technology of the future everywhere. That’s why we are going digital. We cannot be left behind,” Mauvin said.
Regarding two govt apps Mauvin clarified, “One app was developed by GTDC and adopted by Transport Department. The other app is promoted by the Tourism department itself, along with IT department. Let the taxi association come up with their own app.”
