Adarsh Yuvak Sangh prevailed over Navelim Villagers Union 5-3 via the tie-breaker to move into the quarter-finals of 20th edition of late V.M. Salgaoncar Trophy football tournament organised by Saligao Sporting Club at Saligao grounds on Tuesday. The teams were level 1-1 at half time.
Navelim shot into lead in the 5th minute through a penalty which was converted by Alvito.
Down by a goal, Adrash found the equaliser through Francis.
Changing over, Navelim regainthe lead through Stephen in the 20th minute of the second half. Navelim, however, had a golden opportunity to seal the match but their forwards failed to score. Adarsh finally managed to come on level terms in the dying minutes through Francis.
With the full time score 2-2, the issue had to be resolved via the tie-breaker.
In the tie-breaker, it was Adarsh who got the better of Navelim 3-1. Francis, Siddesh and Saras scored for Adarsh while only Alvito could convert for Navelim..
